On the last day of April 2022, Sutjeska defeated Iskra (3:0) in Danilovgrad and won the fifth title in history. Four years later, the team from Nikšić, in the same place, but against a different rival, has the opportunity to win a new trophy - Milorad Peković's team will host Mladost Lob.Bet tonight (20 p.m.) in the 35th round of the 1st CFL at the "Braće Velašević" stadium.
Sutjeska has been the leader since the beginning of the season, the title seemed like a reality even before, but then the "blues" complicated the situation, so the advantage at the top over Mornar melted from seven to two points. Then on Saturday, Sutjeska defeated Dečić (3:0) and was held to a draw by Mornar and Budućnost pod Goricam (0:0), so ahead of the final 180 minutes, they have four points more than Vesko Stešević's team.
Therefore, the calculation ahead of tonight's match in Danilovgrad is clear - victory brings a new title. In the case of the second outcome, Peković's team must listen to the news from Bar, where Mornar plays against Petrovac. Barani is hoping for a blunder by Nikšić, while Petrovac can secure Europe.
- We have an important match ahead of us, with a possible victory we would achieve our goal. We are playing against a good team, which has a motive, because winning points would ensure survival in the league. A difficult match, but we have quality and we believe in ourselves. We have to stay focused and concentrated, to eliminate any possible pressure that exists and enter the match ready - emphasized Peković.
Mladost is last in three matches without a defeat (two wins and a draw), since the arrival of coach Aleksandar Nedović.
- We analyze every opponent, we know a lot about them. Mladost is in good shape, they are a well-organized team, with good individuals, who can cause problems. It is up to us to respect our principles in the game, to make as few mistakes as possible, to be focused on details and try to win points - explained Peković.
And Mornar is hoping for a mistake from Sutjeska.
- We are aware that Petrovac is on the rise, and it is generally known that they have quality. However, we are playing in front of our fans, in our stadium, and on our field, we are wondering - emphasized Barana footballer Vukas Dragović.
Unlike Sutjeska, which can reach the title, current champion Buducnost is closer to the play-offs than to the top of the table. Podgorica are without a win or a goal in six matches in a row, and tonight they welcome Bokelj SBBet, which is fighting for the play-offs. Buducnost is fifth in the table with three points more than Jezera, which is in the play-off zone, and Europe is also within reach, but Petrovac is a big five points away. The "Blues" do not depend only on themselves in the fight for European competition, but the most important thing is that they celebrate tonight in order to break the negative series.
- We are facing another tough match in a row. Bokelj has its own calculations and is fighting for a place in the play-offs, in the last two matches they have won four points, and against Arsenal in the previous round they scored three goals. This is a quality team, led well by Vladimir Savićević. In the last two matches, when it was the most difficult, they showed that they have potential and quality. The challenge is great. We are going for the win and we will do our best to win three crucial points - said Budućnost coach Srđan Radonjić in the match announcement.
In case of victory, Budućnost will also pay special attention to the events at “Topolica”. “The Blues” believe in Petrovac's failure so that in the last round, in a direct duel, at the “Mitar-Mićo Goliš” stadium, they can decide who will travel to Europe.
- We have to win both games. It's a lot of pressure and it's hard. If we win this game, and I hope we will, then not everything depends on us. We will have to wait for the outcome of the match between Petrovac and Mornar. If we triumph and they don't win, then in the last round, in a direct duel, we would have to celebrate in Petrovac. Maybe someone should say the final, maybe that would be nice for football in Montenegro, if everything was decided in that game. Both teams deserved to decide their fate in the last round as far as Europe is concerned - said Radonjić.
Dečić's players have already secured a place in Europe, and they will welcome Arsenal, who are fighting for survival, while an important match, when it comes to the lower part of the table, will be played in Bijelo Polje, where the last Jedinstvo Franca will welcome Jezero, who are in eighth place, two points behind Mladost and Arsenal.
