Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique has once again spoken with great respect about Pep Guardiola.
He has now pointed out that the outgoing Manchester City manager is "the best coach of all time".
In an interview with Movistar Plus, Enrique admitted that he was surprised by the possibility of Guardiola leaving City.
"Pep is the best. I can't believe he's leaving City. And I don't want to believe it, because I would like him to stay for many more years," Enrique said.
PSG is preparing for the Champions League final, in which they will play against Arsenal on May 30th.
Luis Enrique pointed out that while still working as a coach for the Spanish national team, he thought about how special the job of a club coach is.
"I would like to see Pep for many more years at the highest level. It's not about trophies, what does the number matter?" said Enrique.
Speaking about Guardiola's influence on modern football, Enrique highlighted his innovation and ability to change the way the game is played.
"He changed football, he has the courage to introduce defenders and full-backs into the middle of the field. One day he might put defenders right next to the goal and everyone will start copying him. Very few people have that ability, and Pep is number one in that," concluded the PSG coach.
Luis Enrique also praised Mikel Arteta in the same interview, saying that the Arsenal coach has changed the mentality of the London club and that his team is "without a doubt the best team in Europe when they don't have the ball."
