Buducnost failed to qualify for Europe for the first time, Radonjić: Tears in the locker room speak volumes

There have been bad seasons for Buducnost since the restoration of Montenegrin independence, but what was never in question when it came to our biggest football club was reaching Europe.

The club from Podgorica has qualified for UEFA competitions every season, and did not play in Europe until 2014, when it lost that right due to administrative reasons.

And then this season he managed to ruin that too, so for the first time he won't travel to Europe because he didn't deserve it on the field. The "blue and white" had a chance to "correct" their worst season in history by winning against Petrovac and reaching the Conference League, but that didn't happen either.

- The tears in the locker room of our children and older guys who have survived everything this season speak volumes about how difficult it was for them - said Srđan Radonjić, the sixth coach of Buducnost this season.

Petrovac reached Europe with a draw (1:1), so Radonjić was unable to save the season through three games.

"We wanted, we tried, we looked for solutions and I'm proud of the guys who gave their all. We all know what situation we were in, we fought for the opportunity to decide in the last round, but unfortunately we didn't succeed," added Radonjić.

The former Buducnost striker holds nothing against his players.

- In ten days we did everything we could, we all gave our last atom of strength, we believed, the energy was great, but we didn't give it. I have nothing to criticize the boys, they fought to the max, they lived those ten days for Buducnost and dreamed of Europe. They were great in the previous period, thank you to them for that - emphasized Radonjić.

The euphoria that accompanied the last round didn't help either.

- Thank you also to our fans who were with us the whole time and organized a party in Petrovac. Also, I congratulate Petrovac on Europe, these are the people who run the club in the right way and take care of every little thing. And all the best to coach Zdravko Dragićević and the coaching staff who are maximally dedicated to their work and to Petrovac - concluded Radonjić.
