After a long time, the Montenegrin national team is positively ending the June cycle of matches, in this case friendly matches.
Because the draw in Košice against Slovakia, a team that two summers ago was seconds away from the quarterfinals of the European Championship, should be viewed from the perspective of the 1:0 victory over Bulgaria in Plovdiv, just four days ago.
From the block of away matches against quality national teams that await us in the autumn in the League of Nations, and even more than that, Montenegro not only achieved victories and draws, but also filled itself with confidence ahead of the competitive matches in September and October.
After a series of defeats against teams of such renown (not counting Liechtenstein, Gibraltar and Andorra), this is exactly what Mirko Vučinić and his boys needed.
It took the "falcons" some time to adjust to Košice, by the time they got together it was already 1:0, Boženik scored in the 4th minute after our team's defense broke down on the left side, but as time went on the outlines of the game became apparent.
On the wings of Janković, Bulatović, Hakšabanović and two-time scorer Osmajić, Montenegro turned the game around in Košice by the 65th minute.
A minute before the break, Hakšabanović made a great assist to Osmajić, who then converted a penalty that was won by Marko Janković.
Carelessness in defense cost our team the victory in Košice - Duda equalized 16 minutes before the end - but the draw is also something from which the "falcons" will draw a positive picture.
End of the game.
Three minutes of stoppage time
Nice shot by Viktor Đukanović - just wide of the post.
Camaj's attempted cross almost ended in goal, Suhovčik made a last-ditch effort to deflect it into a corner.
Hockey substitutions in both camps, with Montenegro's Roganović replacing Janković, Camaj replacing Marušić, Đukanović replacing Hakšabanović and Kostić replacing Osmajić.
Duda scored for 2:2 - he fought for the ball on the right side and shot from the post, past the helpless Dubljanić.
See HERE.
Another dangerous counterattack and a shot by Hakšabanović, just wide of the goal.
Penalty for Montenegro!
A great ball from Hakšabanović to Janković, who came out alone, he carried the ball 20 meters. Duda brought him down from behind, he could have received a red card, but he got away with a yellow.
Montenegro was dangerous in the 54th minute, Hakšabanović could have shot, he passed to Janković, who tried with his weaker, right foot - over the goal.
The second half has started.
Šipčić, Gašević, Šimun and Brnović are new players in the Montenegrin national team, while Milić, Perović, Sekulić and Lončar remain in the locker room.
Halftime, and a positive ending.
After a confusing start, Vučinić's men found their feet on the pitch in Košice, started creating, and then equalized in the 44th minute with a goal from Osmajić.
Gooooooooollll, Montenegro first found the game, and then managed to equalize.
Great action from our team, first-class assist from Hakšabanović and goal from Osmajić, who routinely placed the ball past Sparta Prague goalkeeper Surovčik with his left foot.
Watch the Preston striker's goal HERE.
Perović tried from a free kick, over the goal.
Finally, Montenegro's good moves, Hakšabanović, then Bulatović, tried vertical penetrations, but nothing came of the shot on goal.
There was confusion again after Perović's poor intervention, but Milić intervened at the last moment.
Pekarik comes off in the 22nd minute and says goodbye to the Slovakia jersey after 20 years.
Perović lost the ball again, Sislov rushed towards the goal, and at the last moment Milić kicked it out for a corner.
Another chance for the Slovaks, it leaked out on the left again, Pekarik's shot was saved with great difficulty by Dubljanić
