Carević expressed interest in taking over FK Budućnost, Mujović replied that shares were not for sale - he could only do so as a sponsor.

Businessman Marko-Bato Carević sent a letter to Podgorica Mayor Sasa Mujović in which he expressed his desire to take over FK Budućnost, "Dan" reported yesterday.

Carević, the former mayor of Budva, was in football for a long time, leading FK Grbalj, his son Lazar Carević defends for Famalicao, with whom he achieved a fantastic fifth place in the Portuguese championship table this season, and he also made two appearances in goal for the senior Montenegrin national team.

The takeover deal, however, is not going so easily, because Mujović has different plans when it comes to FK Budućnost - a club that was completely destroyed last season in terms of results, organization and finances.

As "Vijesti" learns, Mujović thanked Carević for his interest and told him that the Capital City does not want to sell a majority stake in the club - but is looking for a strategic partner and that a sponsorship pool has practically already been assembled that will lead FK Budućnost in the coming period, something similar to the model according to which the Budućnost Basketball Club operates.

Carević could, therefore, "enter" Budućnost only as one of the sponsors.

After a disastrous season in which the Podgorica club failed to qualify for the European stage for the first time in its history, with the club's coffers devastated despite two and a half million euros allocated from the city budget, Mujović, as the owner's representative, decided to take matters into his own hands.

We wrote earlier that they will dissolve the Board of Directors, composed of representatives of political parties and delegated according to party affiliation, and this will officially happen in the coming days.

The future needs to appoint not only new governing bodies, but also people who will lead it in the sports sector.

At the end of last season, club president Boris Spalević, coach Miodrag Božović and board member Feđa Smatlik submitted their resignations. Executive director Predrag Kažić was also previously dismissed, while board members Ninoslav Kaluđerović, Mileta Šćepanović and Nikola Marković, as well as sports director Nenad Maslovar, did not want to submit their resignations.

Srđan Radonjić, who led the team in the last few rounds of last season, was appointed coach.
