A historic point was won in the Nations League B, against favorites Wales, and the Montenegrin women's football team now needs a victory - and not just any victory - to ensure survival.
Mirko Marić's team plays Albania in Shkoder on Tuesday (19 p.m.) and must win by at least two goals to finish third in a group where the Welsh and Czech teams are untouchable.
The Albanian women defeated our team 2:1 in Nikšić, now Montenegro has to surpass that.
"The point against Wales is significant, but it would only become more important if we win in Albania. We have an even tougher game ahead of us, because we have to attack and defend in an organized manner. Against Wales, our focus was on defense, the plan was to threaten from counterattacks, and the girls fulfilled both goals. Now we have to be right in both directions, and besides, Albania is a serious team," said Marić.
Montenegro probably deserved more in that first duel near Bistrica.
"We have to forget the game in Nikšić and stop talking about how we were better and lost. A different duel awaits us. After being defeated by Albania in the first round, it was as if we lost our motivation and focus. It seems to me that the game against Wales gave us everything back, which is an important thing before this game," said Marić.
And are our ladies capable of handling that kind of pressure - having to win someone over convincingly?
"It's hard to chase the result we need, we must not fall into that trap. We must, above all, be concentrated, responsible and disciplined, to be compact both when defending and attacking. The first goal is to try to win, not to try to win by a certain margin. It's easy to say that we need 2:0 or 3:1," said Marić.
Jasna Djokovic brought Montenegro a point against Wales.
"We can't wait for the match with Albania. We want a rematch. Against Wales we showed that we can handle even stronger rivals, only if we are focused, combative and disciplined. I am sure we can show that against Albania as well," said Djokovic.
