Vukčević said goodbye to Sutjeska: "I gave my best in every training session and match"

The Montenegrin football champion, Sutjeska, begins preparations tomorrow, and Stojan Vukčević will not be present at the roll call of head coach Milorad Peković.

The goalkeeper, who was an important part of Nikšić's championship journey, did not extend his contract. Last season, the 25-year-old goalkeeper played in nine games in all competitions for Sutjeska.

His season was cut short by injury. In the 33rd round of the Meridianbet First Football League away to Arsenal, Vukčević broke a toe on his left foot in the 81st minute and thus played until the end of the match, which ended with a score of 1:1.

We are publishing Vukčević's statement regarding his departure from Sutjeska, where he arrived from Rudari in February 2024, in its entirety.

"After two and a half years spent at FK Sutjeska, the time has come for our paths to diverge and for me to continue my career in a new environment.

I leave this club with a sense of pride and gratitude. I had the privilege of being part of the generation that won the title of champion of Montenegro, thus realizing one of my greatest sporting dreams. Sharing the locker room with people who gave their maximum every day for the emblem they wear is an experience that will forever remain a part of me.

I would like to thank all my teammates with whom I have shared moments of great joy, but also the challenges that are an integral part of the sport. Together we have celebrated victories, endured defeats, carried the burden of expectations and defended the club's colors when it was most difficult. It is moments like these that create relationships and memories that last much longer than a single contract.

On a personal note, I can say with a clear conscience that I gave my best in every training session and every game. I tried to justify the trust placed in me, to be worthy of the jersey I wore and to contribute to the team's results with my work. I had the opportunity to be a part of big games and competitions, to compete with top players and to progress as an athlete and a person through every challenge.

I am especially proud of the fact that I have always put the interests of the team ahead of personal comfort. Those who follow football know well that there are moments when an athlete has to choose between pain and responsibility to the team. During this season, I defended one of the most important matches with a broken finger, consciously accepting the risk of a more serious injury and possible consequences for the continuation of my career. I do not mention this today to seek recognition or pity, but because I believe that such things best speak about the relationship of a player to the club.

I am leaving this period without bitterness. Football has taught me that character is not shown when everything goes according to plan, but when circumstances are not as we expect. That is why I see this as the end of an important chapter and the beginning of a new challenge.

Today I am a free agent, motivated more than ever to continue working, progressing and proving my qualities. I believe that I possess potential that, with the trust and professional work of people who recognize the value of dedication, discipline and desire for progress, can be further developed and transformed into results on the field.

I am looking forward to the next step in my career with great enthusiasm and am open to new challenges. I am convinced that I still have a lot to show the Montenegrin football public and I look forward to the opportunity to prove it in the jersey of my new club.
