Sutjeska begins preparations, Peković: We are turning to new goals and challenges

The break is over, Sutjeska's players started preparations for the new season today, which they will open with the Champions League qualifiers. Coach Milorad Peković held a roll call with 25 players (excluding youth and A national team players, who were given a longer break).

"After a short break, we are turning to new goals and challenges. It is important that we do our preparations well, and that we are healthy enough to welcome the Champions League qualifiers and the start of the domestic championship," said Peković at the start of the gathering.

Stojan Vukčević, Vasko Kalezić and Ognjen Đinović have left Sutjeska, while Ivan Vukčević's status will be known in a few days. When it comes to reinforcements, goalkeeper Tomaš Đurović arrived from Iskra.

"In the new season, we will set new goals, we have new motives. We need to refresh the team, to increase competition in some positions, to have healthy competition. We are talking to players who are interesting to us. Nothing is concrete yet. I hope that by June 15th, when we go to Zlatibor for preparations, we will have a clearer picture."

The team from Nikšić is looking for reinforcements in the offensive during the transfer window.

"Wing strikers, on the left and right sides, we will see another striker and an offensive midfielder. We are looking at what is currently on the market. We have ideas, we are talking to certain players. We won the title, that was the goal, but for the next steps we need to increase the competition, so that we can all benefit," Peković pointed out.

The "Blues" will travel to Zlatibra on Monday, where they will prepare.

"On Monday we are going to Zlatibor, we will stay there for ten days, and we will play friendly matches. When we return, we will have another control match. We are playing against Sarajevo, Elbasan, and we have also scheduled a friendly duel with Borac from Banja Luka. However, if we draw them in the first round of the Champions League qualifiers, then we will look for another opponent. That is the plan," concluded Peković.

The draw for the first round of Champions League qualifying is on June 16. Sutjeska is among the underprivileged teams, and possible rivals are: Borac Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Drita (Kosovo), KI Klaksvik (Faroe Islands), Shamrock Rovers (Republic of Ireland), Kups (Finland), Lincoln Red Imps (Gibraltar), Vikingur (Iceland), Kairat (Kazakhstan), Craiova (Romania), Riga (Latvia), Flora (Estonia), Larne (Northern Ireland) and Petrokub (Moldova).

Ahead of the draw, UEFA will, as it does every year, shorten the list of potential rivals.

The first legs of the first round of Champions League qualifying are on July 7th and 8th, with the return legs on July 14th and 15th.
