The Premier League has often had a bad reputation in recent years because of its referees, and if their ladies were to be viewed through Emily Heaslip's eyes at the last match of the Montenegrin women's football team in the B League of Nations, then the situation is no better for them either.
Our women's football team is no longer part of Group B in the Nations League, they were defeated convincingly by Albania (5:2) in the last round of the group, but the result was largely influenced by the referee from England.
Mirko Marić's girls in Shkodra were chasing a plus two in order to avoid relegation, in the 20th minute they took the lead through Medina Dešić, and just 120 seconds later our national team was left with ten players and was penalized with a penalty. The red card, it seems, was too harshly earned by goalkeeper Ajša Kalač, and Albania equalized from the penalty spot (1:1).
Although with a smaller player, the Montenegrins continued to play well, and at the end of the first half they took the lead through Maša Tomašević - the Inter player scored with a header, and Hisli, for reasons known only to her, disallowed the goal due to an alleged foul.
Despite that, Montenegro managed to take the lead - with a brilliant goal from Jasna Đoković in the 45th minute.
And just like after the first lead, just a few moments later our national team conceded a goal - this time scored by Fortesa Berisha (2:2).
Slađana Bulatović and her teammates tried to play until the end, but the player's weakness was bound to make itself felt sooner or later, so Albania knew how to take advantage of everything and celebrate convincingly.
Our women's football team ended their performance in the strong B League of Nations with one point, against the group winner, Wales.
