Marić: League C is our reality, we received an undeserved red card

The head coach of the Montenegrin women's national team, Mirko Marić, admitted that the C League of Nations is a reality for our female football players after their 5:2 defeat to Albania in Shkoder.

Our players needed a victory by two or more points to stay in the second tier of European football, and they were on the right track - they led twice, and then were forced to play with one less player for more than an hour.

"We started the game poorly, we played confusedly. But the key moment was when we got a red card, undeservedly. We still managed to score another goal, but we also made a lot of mistakes and conceded two goals, just like in the game in Nikšić against Albania. In the second half we were already physically exhausted, the rival took advantage of that later, although we created some good chances even then," Marić told the FSCG website.

Montenegro won one point in a strong group with Wales, the Czech Republic and Albania. They could have had more, especially in the two matches against Albania, and today in Shkodra they were handicapped by the absence of Armisa Kuč.

"We are returning to League C, that is our reality at the moment and we want to start new victories there," concluded Marić.
