17 years ago they demolished Anorthosis, now they dream of a new European wonder

Petrovac's players have begun preparations for the new season, which will see them qualify for the Conference League. In just three days, Zdravko Dragićević's team will find out who their rivals will be in their return to the international scene, where they first and last appeared back in 2009.

And they left a huge mark. Dragićević then led the team with the captain's armband that shocked the Cypriot Anorthosis - a team that had only played in the group stage of the Champions League a year earlier. Trajanos Delas, the legendary captain of Greece from the 2004 European Championship, was shaking his head helplessly in the corridor of the stadium near Bistrica, while the Petrovac team celebrated their phenomenal success and their place in the second round, which led them to the Austrian Sturm.

Seventeen years later, the "sky blues" are hoping for a similar surprise, because as the underdogs in the draw, they will definitely draw a rival who will be the favorite.

The difference is that they will play their European matches this summer at the stadium under Gorica, and not in Nikšić.

Only, the Petrovac team will train on their home field until June 20th, when they will move to Zlatibor for final preparations for their return to Europe.

"We will work in Petrovac until June 20th, and then we will go to Zlatibor where we will stay for 12 days. We planned to play three games there, and we want to prepare as well as possible for the upcoming European games," said Zdravko Dragićević.

There have also been changes in the playing staff. For now, Adnan Bašić, Nikola Zvrko, Marko Roganović and Marko Kordić have left the team.

Nikola Janjić (Budućnost) and Ognjen Obradović (Jedinstvo-Franca) have arrived.

"We have a few more players we are negotiating with, but all of that will be known in the next few days. As for departures, Roganović, Zvrko, Bašić and Kordić have left the club. But I must emphasize that the return of Dragan Miranović after injury, Danilo Bakić, as well as Zaim Divanović, is very important to us," continued the head coach of the "sky blues".

The people of Petrovac are eagerly awaiting the draw.

"Yesterday I told my players that no matter who comes, because we are athletes first and foremost, we need to think about moving on. If we want to move forward, we need to have a responsible approach, for everyone to give their maximum and to be dedicated to our goal. That's how we should move towards it, and we hope for a positive outcome," Dragićević underlined.

The first match is the 1st round of the Conference League qualifiers. The Petrovac team will play on July 9th, with the return match seven days later.
