Dečić had a great opportunity to return from Latvia at least undefeated, with a player more than him he was even chasing victory, but he was harshly punished for passivity and inattention - midway through the second half he allowed Liepaja to take the lead, and later with ten men he defended the 1:0 triumph.
Ahead of the second leg of the 1st round of the Conference League qualifiers in Tuzi (tonight at 8:30 PM), Dečić is ready to make up for everything he missed six days ago.
- It will be a clash of different teams. Our strength is in unity and energy. I deeply believe that we can get through. If that happens - it will be a stimulus for all of us, for Montenegrin football. Otherwise - it will be a failure. I am sure that we will give everything we have in order to continue qualifying for the Conference League - said coach Dečić Ivan Brnović.
Dečić had to react better with the player taller in the first match.
- First of all, I don't have enough experience at the European level, let alone the players who played an international club match for the first time. I am responsible for the defeat. We will be more prepared for the second match, I hope that the fans will come in large numbers to support us. Let's make a turnaround together - said Brnović and added:
- What happened on the pitch in Latvia is something you can't predict. We had more players from the 21st minute, but we didn't use it properly. The opponent withdrew, punished us with counterattacks, but the result is still active. We will try to open the second leg with more variety.
The kid knows how to play.
- We have a plan A, a plan B, and even a plan C. We want to control the game, but we don't want to rush at all costs. From our side, it will be a moderately attacking approach, and depending on the results, we will increase the risk as the match progresses. I am optimistic, I believe in the guys and I expect our performance to be better - concluded Brnović.
If they get past tonight's rival, Decic will play Austria from Vienna in the 2nd round of the qualifiers.
