Muharemović becomes the second most expensive football player in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina

A performance with Bosnia and Herzegovina at the World Cup, reaching the knockout stage for the first time in history, and then the biggest transfer of his career - that's how this summer for Tarik Muharemović looked in a nutshell.

The young defender will be playing for Leeds United next season, who paid 40 million euros for him. Muharemović has become the second most expensive player from Bosnia and Herzegovina ever. He has signed a five-year contract with the English Premier League club.

The only more expensive transfer of a player from Bosnia and Herzegovina was when Miralem Pjanić moved from Juventus to Barcelona for 60 million European banknotes.

Muharemović began his career at Austrian club Wolfsberger. His good performances did not go unnoticed - Juventus reacted quickly and brought him in 2021.

In August 2024, he moved on loan to Sassuolo, who purchased his contract ahead of last season.

Together with Nikola Katić, he forms the bulwark of Bosnia and Herzegovina's defense. He has played 17 games for the "dragons" so far.
