Great performance at the World Cup paid off: Manzambi officially joins Aston Villa

Swiss footballer Johan Manzambi is a new Aston Villa player, the Birmingham club announced today.

This 20-year-old player joins Aston Villa from Freiburg, with whom he played in the Europa League final last season, in which they were defeated by his new team.

According to English media, Aston Villa paid 59,5 million pounds for Manzambi.

Manzambi is in the spotlight after his excellent performances at the World Cup, where he reached the quarterfinals with the Swiss national team, where they were defeated by Argentina 1:3 after extra time.

Last season he was named the best young player in the Europa League.

Aston Villa will start the new season on August 12th, when they play Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup final in Salzburg.
