Former Sporting Lisbon player Francisco Trincao is a new player for Saudi Al Ahli, the Jeddah club announced today.
Trinkao signed a four-year contract with Al Ahli, and well-known insider Fabricio Romano reported that the Saudi club paid Sporting 40 million euros for the 26-year-old Portuguese winger.
The Portuguese footballer joined Sporting in 2022 from Barcelona, and since then he has played a total of 208 games, scoring 47 goals and registering 51 assists for the Lisbon club.
As a member of Sporting, he was selected in the Portuguese championship's ideal team in the previous two seasons, and with the Lisbon club he won two Portuguese championship titles and one national cup trophy.
In addition to Sporting and Barcelona, he also played for Wolverhampton and Braga in his career, while he played a total of 19 games and scored three goals for the Portuguese national team, for which he also played at this year's World Cup.
Trinkao said he was very proud to become a member of Al Ahli.
"I am aware of the importance of this club, its history and its fans. The passion I saw among Al Ahly fans was one of the main reasons that encouraged me to embark on this adventure, and I promise everyone that I will fight together with my teammates for the success and joy of the fans," said Trinkao, as reported by the club's website.
