The club whose colors have been defended by legendary Dutchmen such as Louis van Gaal, Dani Blind, Georginio Wijnaldum, Denzel Dumfries and Memphis Depay has also been home to Andrej Kostić since this summer.
The young Montenegrin footballer is a new member of Sparta Rotterdam, where he arrives on loan from Milan.
The former Buducnost forward moved from Partizan to Milan earlier this summer. The plan was to initially wear the jersey of the Italian giant's development team, but it seems that going to the land of total football and the Dutch first league is a great move for any young striker.
- We are confident that Sparta offers the right environment for him and we expect Andrej to strengthen our attack - Gerard Nejkamp, Sparta's technical director, has no doubt.
The coach of the club from Europe's largest port, Rožir Majer, will be able to count on Kostić as soon as our footballer receives the necessary work and residence permits.
- Andrej possesses many qualities that fit the profile we were looking for in attack. Despite being very young (19 years old), he already has a lot of experience at the highest level. Last season, he played 35 games for Partizan and scored 11 goals - added Nijkamp.
Shortly after the presentation, Sparta introduced the fans to Kostić, who answered several questions.
- First impressions are that everything is fantastic and I can't wait to play here - said the Montenegrin striker.
What made him decide to wear the red and white jersey?
- I think this is the right step for me as a young player and I think I will score a lot of goals for Sparta.
How well does he know the new club?
- I know that Sparta has a great tradition and phenomenal fans.
What are the expectations for the new season?
- I expect many goals and many victories - concluded Kostić.
Sparta has been Dutch champion six times, the last time in 1959, and Kostić will face off against giants like Ajax, PSV Eindhoven and big city rival Feyenoord in this country.
