Italian football club Inter are close to an agreement with Liverpool over the transfer of midfielder Curtis Jones, worth 35 million euros, or around 30 million pounds, British media reported.
Liverpool rejected a verbal offer of 25 million euros from the Italian champions in June, having valued the 25-year-old, whose contract expires in a year, at around 35 million pounds.
According to the BBC, a £30m offer could now be enough to seal a deal between the clubs. Reports from Italy suggest a verbal agreement has already been reached, but both clubs say certain details still need to be agreed.
Liverpool are open to selling Jones and want compensation close to the £30m Inter paid Tottenham for Jed Spence.
Inter were also interested in Jones in January, when they proposed a loan with an option to buy, but Liverpool rejected the offer.
Jones has made 228 appearances for Liverpool since making his debut for Jurgen Klopp's first team in 2019. He made 49 appearances in all competitions last season, but started just 18 times in the Premier League and failed to establish himself as a regular first-team player.
Jones, who joined Liverpool's academy at the age of nine, is reportedly keen on a new challenge. If the move goes through, he would become the third English player to join the Italian champions this summer, following John Stones and Spence.
