Test variant - The English FA is trialling temporary suspensions in the lower leagues

The English Football Association (FA) plans to test the rule on temporary suspensions in lower league matches starting next season, British media reported today.

As reported by the BBC, that rule should be introduced from the seventh league and below.

The temporary suspension would only apply to receiving a yellow card for protesting or violently reacting to the decision, and the player would leave the field for 10 minutes.

Also, the rule will be tested in the matches of young men's and women's teams.

Over the weekend, the association invited more than 1.000 clubs via e-mail to answer whether they want to participate in the pilot project. Clubs are generally fined £10 for each yellow card, but the FA will not charge those clubs who choose to take part.
