President of the Capital City Board, member of the Presidency and DPS MP in the Parliament of Montenegro, Nermin Abdić said that the catastrophic situation at the Budućnost Football Club has long ceased to be a matter of one bad result, match or coach.
Budućnost leaders dismissed coach Srđan Radonjić last night after a 2:0 defeat to Otranto in Ulcinj.
"What we are seeing today is the result of serious problems in the functioning of the club and requires an urgent response from all those responsible for its management. Buducnost is not an ordinary football club, it is a symbol of Podgorica, part of the identity of our city and a club with which generations of Podgorica residents have grown up. That is precisely why no one has the right to remain silent and calmly watch as a club with such tradition and importance goes through one of the most difficult situations in its history," said Abdić.
He added that changing the coach cannot be the answer to all the problems.
"Coaches come and go, players go through good and bad periods, but responsibility for the functioning and direction in which the club is moving must lie where the key decisions are made – and that is the management of the Capital City. Today, more than ever, Buducnost needs stability, serious management, a clear sports strategy and people who understand the greatness of the emblem they represent. That is why I expect an immediate reaction from the club's management, but also from the Capital City as its founder. The Podgorica public deserves to know what is happening at Buducnost, who is taking responsibility for the current situation and, above all, what is the concrete plan to get the club out of it," Abdić announced.
Abdić said that this is not the time to look for alibis or to shift responsibility from one person to another.
"This is the moment for everyone entrusted with Buducnost to show that they understand what this club means to Podgorica. Buducnost belongs to Podgorica and its fans. Its name, tradition and emblem are much greater than any individual, administration or political structure. Therefore, it is the obligation of all of us to demand that Buducnost be treated as such," concluded Abdić.
