Seventh round of the MeridianBet First Football League, match against Jezero, victory after more than a month - Thursday, September 10th was the day when Buducnost fans finally got a reason to leave the stadium satisfied.
The "Blues" ended a five-game winless streak, celebrating 3:0, and the main roles were divided among players who should represent both the present and future of Buducnost.
The road to victory was opened by Ilja Serikov on a cross from young Petar Vujović, and later Danilo Vukanić settled the match with two goals.
Matija Jovanović also had a chance, and the assistant for Vukanić's first goal was Aleksa Causevic, the youngest starter ever in the CFL. He played from the first minute at just 16 years and 11 days old...
"An important victory at an important moment, that's for sure. We caught some air after a series of negative results, and we really needed that. The team that started - whoever the coach is in the future - needs to push themselves to the end, because that's the only way to produce players and for Budućnost to play beautiful and modern football," said Srđan Nikić, who led the team while the "blues" await the appointment of a new head coach.
Nikić promised one thing:
"If I remain the head coach, we will work like that. Of course, with more experienced guys who are an incredible support for the youth that the club has," said Nikić.
That youth brought the energy for the victory over the Plav team.
"I'm incredibly happy for Causevic, he's a prodigy - I'm sure of that. The same thing I once said about Andrija Bulatovic applies to him: he's destined for a great career, and he's also a great guy. As coaches, we had no dilemma whether to give him a chance from the start or not."
It wasn't just Causevic who made a mark on the match.
"Of course, I congratulate all the boys on everything, they showed enormous will and desire, which in general should never be lacking, but it seems like it's been lacking a bit lately. They raised it to a higher level and thank them for that. They deserved the triumph and they achieved it together," Nikić said clearly.
Buducnost will play Mladost DG in the 8th round (Monday) - it is not yet known who will be on the bench.
The Podgorica club promoted Fatos Bećiraj to sports director a few days ago, now the promotion of the coach is awaited, and there are several candidates.
"We've already forgotten this victory, we're turning to Monday. We have a demanding match against Mladost," concluded Nikić.
