From May 5, 2023, and the away win against Mainz (3:2) until tonight, Schalke fans have been waiting for a triumph in the Bundesliga. Of course, they have been "royal blue" in Zweig since then, and this season they returned to the elite.
Miron Muslić's team is already showing that they are not here by chance. After holding Bayern Munich to a 0-0 draw in the previous round, they achieved their first triumph of the season in the third round of the Bundesliga tonight. Schalke celebrated their victory away to Union Berlin, 3-1.
They took the lead in the 25th minute when, with a bit of luck, the ball reached Robin Gosens, who scored the goal for the home team.
Just 30 seconds into the second half, Schalke doubled their lead. Junior Adamu played a pass past Adil Auschis and the Algerian slotted the ball into the Union goal.
The home team managed to make the finale interesting. Tim Skarke reduced the score to 2:1 in the 96th minute. Union went for all or nothing, which opened up a lot of space for Schalke and the guests took advantage of it in the 13th minute of stoppage time - the scorer for the final 3:1 was Maksimilijan Veber.
