Inter's players have been subject to major upsets in the last two rounds of Serie A. After "upsetting" Napoli nine days ago (3:2), Udinese suffered an even worse fate tonight at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium.
The "zebras" took the lead after 16 minutes with 0:2, and then a firecracker in their net! Inter showed why they are the champions of Italy and in the end celebrated with a convincing 5:3.
So, it started terribly for the "Nerazuros". Goals from James Abankwa and Jurgen Ekelenkamp gave Udinese a quick two-goal lead.
For the first time in almost six years, Inter conceded two goals in the first 16 minutes of Serie A. Previously, Milan and Zlatan Ibrahimović managed to do so on October 17, 2020.
And it seemed that this woke up Cristian Chivo's team - they were back to level by halftime. First, Carlos Augusto reduced the score to 1:2 with a Euro goal in the 26th minute, and nine minutes later, Nicolo Barella equalized the match.
After Inter's quick comeback, it was clear that the visitors were in for a tough and long second half - and so it was. Marcus Thuram's 57th-minute assist from Andy Diouf brought about a complete turnaround.
They didn't let their foot off the gas pedal for "Nerazu". Pio Esposito in the 67th minute and Ange Boni in the 79th minute increased the lead to a huge 5:2.
Udinese managed to mitigate the defeat - in the 90th minute, Idrissa Gay scored.
