Until recently, football could not be played at the DG Arena due to the demolition of the wall behind the goal and the removal of the floodlights, and today the Champions League will be played.
However, the qualifiers are for the youth, and the U19 team of Mladost from Donja Gorica will play a historic match in the European elite. Their rival in the first round of the qualifiers is the Kazakh champion Kairat from Almaty (16 p.m.).
Mladost coach Goran Miranović, who won the Montenegrin championship title with Mladost's youth team in May, has mixed feelings.
On the one hand, he is pleased and excited about the match on the international stage, but on the other hand, he is also sorry that he will not be able to field the best team in such a match.
"Due to UEFA rules requiring a minimum of 16 players who have been with the club for at least two years, we are significantly weakened, but we have to forget that and concentrate on the match," he said. Goran Miranović.
The senior team Kairat from Almaty played in the main stage of the Champions League last season. When the first team is strong - the younger categories are usually strong too, especially the closest one, U19.
"We watched them, analyzed them. The team is made up of 11 national team players, and three players have significant minutes in the first team and experience in the Champions League. So we expect a difficult and demanding match against a serious team, Kairat," adds Miranović.
The return match is only a month away, and his team faces a long journey to Kazakhstan on October 14th.
In any case, an unforgettable experience.
"We are entering the two-legged match weakened, but with a lot of desire and enthusiasm to present ourselves in the best possible light and try to surprise our opponent. This is a great experience for my players and an opportunity to see how much we can do at this moment - concludes Goran Miranović.
The match at the DG Arena, which starts at 16 p.m., will be officiated by a Dutch referee trio led by Robin Hensgens.
