Even before the start of the season, Buducnost announced that they would push for young players, giving boys from their own school the opportunity to show what they know at the senior level.
Although the results have been variable, which led to the dismissal of coach Srđan Radonjić, among other things, they have not given up on the idea. Young players form the backbone of the team. Two days ago, in the victory over the Mladost Lob.bet team, the starting lineup included four teenagers - Aleksa Causevic, Matija Jovanovic, Lazar Popovic and Petar Vujovic. Matija Rakcevic also got a chance from the bench.
It was one of them, Petar Vujović, who scored the first goal for the "blue and whites", while later in the second half of the match, Neđeljko Kovinić made the final score 0:2.
For Vujović, who is only 17 years old, this is the first goal in his career. In an interview for "Vijesti", the young Buducnost player points out that the goal came as a result of work and training.
"The feeling is really phenomenal. It's something every young player dreams of and I'm glad that I managed to score my first goal for Buducnost in the senior competition. It means a lot to me because it came as a result of work and training. I hope that this is just the beginning and that there will be more," said Vujović at the start of the interview.
This goal, he says, will inspire him to keep working and try even harder.
"Definitely. This goal is a great motivation for me and confirmation that hard work pays off. It shows me that I need to continue to work even harder and take advantage of every opportunity I get."
He has a great desire to progress - he tries to get something out of every game that he needs to improve for the rest of the season.
"I'm satisfied, but I always think I can do better. It means a lot to me that I'm getting playing time and that the coach has confidence in me. Every game brings me new experience and I try to get something out of each one that I can improve. The most important thing for me is to continue to improve and help the team as much as I can," Vujović emphasized.
This is his first season at the senior level - the transition was complicated, but he is slowly getting used to it.
"It wasn't easy, because senior football is quite different from youth football. The players are physically stronger, the matches are more demanding and everything is much faster. However, with training, work and the help of older teammates, I think I've adapted well. I'm aware that I'm still young and have a lot to learn."
In addition to his senior, professional obligations, Petar Vujović also has to fulfill his school obligations - he is a full-time student at the "Slobodan Škerović" Gymnasium.
"It's not always easy to balance school and football, especially now that I'm part of the senior team and have more training and matches. I try to be responsible for both school and football and to organize my time well. Sometimes it's hard, but with good organization, anything can be achieved. I believe that both education and football are important and I want to be successful in both fields."
Vujović is left-footed, so it is natural that he looks up to the man who changed the history of football with his left foot.
"I would single out Lionel Messi as a football role model. He has always been my favorite player - because of the way he plays, but also because of his modesty and attitude towards football."
From high school - to the World Cup.
From November 19 to December 13, he will be competing at the World Cadet Championship. For the first time in history, Montenegro will be at a showcase of the best football players on the planet.
"It's something special for all of us and a great honor. We know how historic a success it is for Montenegro to compete in the World Cup for the first time. Expectations are high, but we don't want to put too much pressure on ourselves. We want to give our maximum, to represent our country in the best possible way and to enjoy every moment. I believe we can achieve a good result if we believe in each other and play as a team," concluded Petar Vujović.
