There is an anecdote according to which Robinho left Real Madrid in 2008 and went to England thinking he had signed for Chelsea.
Only when he landed on the Island did he receive a shock - his new club was Manchester City.
It has not been proven that all this story is really true, but the Brazilian admitted nine years later that he wanted to strengthen the club from "Stamford Bridge".
"I wanted to be at Chelsea. The coach at the time, Luiz Felipe Scolari, told me that he saw me as a player who makes a difference in his team, because Chelsea, as he admitted to me, was not creative enough for him," Robinho told "FourFourTwo".
Chelsea wanted Robinho, he wanted to go to London, but Real ruined the deal.
"Real stopped everything. Apparently, people from the club were bothered by the fact that Chelsea sold jerseys with my name on them before the transfer was completed. I know that's not the case, or that it's just a small reason. Rather, I would say that everything was a matter pride for Real," added Robinho.
Instead of Chelsea, Robinho arrived at City visibly dissatisfied.
He didn't become famous, and he also had big problems with the manager at the time, Mark Hughes.
"The real truth is that Hughes didn't keep the promise he made to me. I came to City without a holiday, he promised me I'd get a week. He didn't honor me, so I went alone, and to Tenerife," added Robinho.
Robinho then went on loan to Santos, then joined Milan, and later was a member of the Chinese Guangzhou Evergrande.
Since February of last year, he has been a football player for Atletico Mineira.
