Ikast - When Marta Žderić was sent off after 19 minutes and 19 seconds, many probably thought that Midtjylland would be able to take advantage of Ljubica Nenezić's inexperience. However, Budućnosti's handball players played even better in defense and showed the home team that the points will go to Podgorica (28:18).
"That reaction marked this match. Ljubica Nenezić's good work with Vlatko Đonović contributed to her feeling that way on the field and helping the team, as she helped her. This is a big thing for us, because we had eight juniors in the team and each that came in made a contribution. The players were very concentrated and focused, which brought us a convincing victory, but the game on the field, however, was not for a 10-goal difference," admitted Dragan Adžić.
Buducnost practically secured the quarter-finals, and on Sunday against Đer, they could also secure the 1st place in group 2.
"We secured the first and basic goal with this victory, and now we want to return Djeru for the defeat and correct all the mistakes that were seen in Hungary. I hope that the game will be a degree better, which is usually the case with us as the Champions League progresses." Adžić stressed.
Žderić: It wasn't a red card, but those are the rules
Marta Žderić started the match spectacularly, stopping seven of the first 10 shots, but received a red card in the 20th minute. In her desire to prevent a counterattack, she may have inadvertently touched Mie Augustesen, and referees Mandak and Rudinski showed her the way to the stands.
"I don't think it was a red card. I saw Neli running to the right side and I moved away, I didn't touch her. I also heard that it was replayed five times on our television and it was clear that it wasn't a foul. But that's how they are rules, any contact between the goalkeeper and the player is a red card," the Croatian goalkeeper pointed out.
Were you afraid that Ljubica Nenezić would burn under the pressure?
"I wasn't afraid, because I knew that the other girls would bear a greater burden. Ljubica prepared very well, she analyzed as much as I did, and I was sure that she would save a few shots".
How did you feel in the stands?
"I was not comfortable until the last 5-10 minutes, when I saw that we had a result. We played superbly in defense, this was a really good game".
The Slovenian Neli Irman also played a phenomenal match, who stole several balls and cheated the great Zabine Englert five times.
"I had three weeks to relax and get into the Buducnosti system, that's why I relaxed and played the second half. The whole team was great, the 10-goal victory is extraordinary. I wasn't scared when Marta was sent off, because Ljubica defended perfectly trainings. She proved that she can be real in matches as well," said the 28-year-old Slovenian.
Is this the team to win the Champions League?
"That's why I came. I'm at an age when I'm thinking about other things and I wouldn't have come if I didn't think we could do it. This is a team that can win the Champions League again," said the former Crimean player.
