One of the world's best clubs, Kiril Lazarov (31), extended his contract with the Spanish Atlético de Madrid, vice-champion of the Asobal League, until 2014.
The captain of the Macedonian national team, which was the most pleasant surprise at the European Championship in Serbia recently, winning an excellent fifth place, arrived in the former Ciudad Real in 2010.
"I had no doubts about extending the contract. I am happy and I thank the president and the coach for the trust they showed me. This club is like a family to me," said the excellent right back, a former player of Pelister, Zagreb and Hungarian Vesprem.
The negotiations between the two sides took longer than expected due to Lazarov's performance at the EP, where he was the top scorer, when he entered handball history as the top scorer of European championships with a total of 61 goals, breaking Icelander Olafur Stefansson's record from the EP 2002 when scored 58 goals. According to the Spanish ace, Lazarov received several good offers after that, but in the end he decided to stay in Madrid.

Three years ago, Lazarov scored 92 goals at the World Cup in Croatia, which is the best performance in the history of these championships, and on two occasions he was the top scorer of the Champions League.
