The last cycle for the 1998-99 generation. of Montenegrin handball players starts in Podgorica. With the hope that it won't end, but that on Sunday, Tatjana Jeraminok's team will celebrate qualifying for the World Championship, hosted by Hungary from July 1 to 15.
The "Reds" will play against Greece in "Verde" tonight at 20:XNUMX p.m. and against Switzerland on Sunday at the same time. Only the winner of the group goes to the planetary championship, and it is clear that Montenegro is the favorite, because this team was eighth last year at the European Championship, where there were no Greek or Swiss women. Despite this, young Montenegrin handball players are not thinking of relaxing.
"Both Greece and Switzerland are good teams. They all play handball and we must not underestimate anyone. It will not be easy for us, we will fight to the end, because our rivals also want to go to the World Cup," Branka Konatar is cautious.
The young left winger, who made his debut in the Champions League this season with Buducnosti, hopes to qualify for the World Cup.
"I believe we can win a visa for Hungary, but we don't know what will happen when we go out on the court. Both rivals have a lot of players and they change often, and they play in a better league. On the other hand, we don't even have many registered handball players, so we can't even choose who will play".
The captain of this generation, the great Tatjana Brnović, who will play for the senior national team tomorrow against Poland, will also play against Switzerland.
"Tanya's arrival is definitely a plus for us, she will be very useful. She is our generation, we have been together for a long time and we are well-matched," concluded Konatar.
Tonight's duel should be just a warm-up for Montenegro.
"We have a video of Greece from last year, but we will rely more on our game and system. There is no shortage of motivation, the World Cup would be the crown of their many years of work. It is a rare opportunity for the junior national team of Montenegro to play in Podgorica. It would be nice if our fans support," Jeraminok said.
