Sensation of the century: France is out, Portugal in the top 12

The French team, one of the strongest European teams today, a cult handball force, will not play in the second phase of the European Championship.

After the sensational defeat by Portugal in the first round, they also lost to Norway in the big derby in Trondheim, after 60 minutes of atomic handball - 28:26.

Instead of a superpower, among the 12 best, along with Norway from group F, there is the outsider Portugal, which previously also defeated the BiH national team.

The duel between two great selections was decided in the finish, when the Norwegians turned a three-goal deficit (18:15) into a three-goal lead (25:22), which they did not relinquish until the end.

The hero of the match Sander Sagosen scored a goal two minutes before the end for 28:25 and it was the final farewell for the French.

Sagosen led the Norwegians with 10 goals, along with the great goalkeeper Bergerud (13 saves), while Fabregas scored eight goals for the French.

The second victory in group D was achieved by Slovenia, which defeated Sweden 21:19, but it is not yet mathematically in the semi-finals.

In the last round, Slovenians play against Switzerland, which beat Poland 31:24.

Dolenec with seven goals and Bombač with five goals were the best in the Slovenian team.
