The captain of the Croatian handball team, Domagoj Duvnjak, with eight goals, led his team to victory against Norway 29:28 after two overtimes in the semi-finals of the European Championship in Stockholm, and was rightly named the player of the match.
"I have never played a game like this in my life, it could have gone either way, but we showed that Croatian character that adorns us throughout the championship. We didn't give up, and when we were down we continued to play. So much that coincided with us, but in the semi-final matches luck should be earned and I think we deservedly won. A match cannot be won by an individual, and this match is the proof," said Duvnjak, who also described his condition during overtime.
"I don't remember half of what happened in extra time. You switch off, you just look at the scoreboard, what's the score and what's the minute. We lost three years ago in the semi-finals of the World Cup against the Norwegians in France, unfortunately, this is not a rematch, but it's just like that, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose".
Duvnjak also referred to the scorer of the winning goal, Željko Musa, whose shot five seconds before the end was also the only one of the match.
"Željko is a great positive, good spirit of the national team and then it comes back to him like this".
