"At the request of the players, we have significantly increased the prize pool, but rightfully so," he said.
By winning the gold at the last championship in Poland, the Germans were also rewarded with around 250 thousand euros, but part of the premiums were covered by sponsorship contracts.
Winning the silver medal in Croatia will bring the players 200 euros each, and the bronze medal 150 euros.
Germany is a two-time European (2004, 2006) and three-time world champion (1938, 1978, 2007).
