Veselin Vujović is the new coach of Borca from Banja Luka. He will succeed Mirko Mikić on the bench of the first league team from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
According to the sports director of Borc, Vladimir Branković, the club and Vujović quickly reached an agreement, and the coach did not set any special conditions.
Vujović's last engagement was as a coach of PPD Zagreb, which he left in March last year. Before Zagreb, he coached Metaloplastika, Partizan, Ciudad Real, Vardar, Al Sad, Al Šabab, Koper and Željezničar.
He was also the coach of Yugoslavia, later Serbia and Montenegro, Macedonia and from 2015 to 2019, Slovenia. With that national team, he won bronze at the 2017 WC in France.
"We are satisfied with Mikić's work, and in agreement with him, we decided to hire a recognized coach with an incredible reputation. Vujović did not make great demands, but we believe that he is the right man for the club's ambitions on the domestic and European stage. For the club and the progress of this sport in general "It is very significant that one of the greatest handball players and also a successful coach, Vujović, accepted to take over the position of coach," stressed Borac president Saša Kondić.
The fighter was the champion of SFR Yugoslavia seven times, and in 1976 he was also the champion of Europe.
