Croatian handball players are close to being eliminated from the World Championship, and when it ends, they will get a new coach.
Namely, Lino Červar announced his departure after today's shocking defeat against Argentina.
"For me, this is a disappointment. We have to take responsibility no matter what. This is unacceptable for me. I think it's time for someone to replace me in this position. I can no longer go on," said Čevar, reports Index.hr.
"After the championship, I'm leaving. After a game like this, it's not right for the coach to stay. I bear the responsibility. I'm not running away from it. I'm sorry to leave like that, but it's a definite decision. I'll support my successor. I'm very sorry for tonight's game. Everything was in the approach. Argentina had more desire, we are not hungry to win. Life has ups and downs, I don't blame anyone, but HRS has to find another coach. I won't change the decision, I think it's time for a new man. Maybe we can pull through against Denmark , but I'm talking about the future," said Čevar.
Croats can still go to the quarterfinals if they beat Denmark, and Qatar defeats Argentina.
