A new name in the professional staff of Budućnosti handball players - the celebrated Montenegrin handball player, Maja Savić - as in the national team - will be Bojana Popović's first assistant.
"This is a logical solution and a realistic development of events, that after the national team, I accept this role in Buducnosti. I believe that this solution will prove to be the best, because Bojana and I will work together both in the national team and in the club. The team has changed significantly, it is completely the new line-up of Buducnost and the girls that we need to prepare for big challenges in the coming period. There has been a change of generations and there are girls that we need to prepare to take on more important roles. I will be with Bojana and I believe that we will prepare in the right way for what awaits us in the new season for Budućnosti, but also for competitions that expect a national team," said Savić.
Buducnost completed the ranks today and continued preparations for the continuation of the season - after a few days of rest after returning from Tokyo, coach Bojana Popović and five national team players (Anastasija Babović, Itana Grbić, Tatjana Brnović, Nikolina Vukčević and Ivona Pavićević) joined the rest of the team that has been working in Podgorica since July 27 under the guidance of coach Tatjana Jeraminok.
"There is no rest in the year when there are Olympic Games, we have a big challenge ahead of us and we have to prepare for the new season of the Champions League. We want to build our game and progress through the games that await us in the group. We have a completely new team and a new back line which is key in the game of one team. I believe that the full-backs will play together in the right way and find an adequate rhythm. Katarina Džaferović and Valerija Maslova, like last season, are in the position of the right, and Itana Grbić is our trump card in the position of middle back. Ivana Mitrović is on the left-back and Ilda Kepić, they are new in our team and we are working to find the right rhythm as soon as possible. We have young players in wing positions, there will be work, but I am happy that we have the opportunity to continue building what we started last season, because there are girls who will do their best for the coat of arms of Buducnosti. For us, the matches at the start of the Champions League against Podravka and Borussia are the most important, we are preparing for that, so we will continue step by step in the rest of the season," said Bojana Popović.
The new DELO EHF Champions League season starts in a little less than a month, and Budućnost will host Podravka on September 11 in Koprivnica. Bućućnost enters the new season with a changed and significantly rejuvenated team.
"Neither I, nor the other girls who were in the national team, did not have much time to rest after returning from Tokyo, but we are used to it. We have enough time to prepare for the new season in which the team will be completely different, we have a new energy and new ambitions. I can announce a fight in every match and promise that it will not be missing in any match, and we will see how long it will be enough. The new competition system in the Champions League suits us and the fact that we will have 14 strong matches until February There is no easy opponent, maybe our first visit to the Podravka team is the most important. It is a match in which we will look for a chance to advance to the next stage. It will be difficult, we must respect the agreements and everything that coach Bojana Popović asks of us, because we do not have credit for improvisation and relaxation," said Itana Grbić.
In addition to Podravka, Buducnost will play in the DELO EHF Champions League group with French Brest, Hungarian FTC, Romanian CSM Bucharest, German Borussia, Russian Rostov and Danish Esbjerg.
