Coronavirus among Croatian handball players as well, Macedonians negative

Croatian handball players Domagoj Duvnjak and Luka Cindrić have tested positive for the coronavirus, the Croatian Handball Association announced today.

Although the preparations of the Croatian men's senior national team for the European Championship are taking place with the strictest epidemiological measures, the coronavirus, like many other national teams and clubs, has made its way to the Croatian ranks.

This morning's PCR tests, which are part of the obligation to the European Handball Federation before coming to the competition, revealed that two Croatian handball players are positive, namely the biggest stars Domagoj Duvnjak and Luka Cindrić.

They feel well and have milder symptoms, and in accordance with the prescribed protocol, they have been placed in isolation.

All other players and members of the professional staff are negative and continue with regular training, and on January 5, they will all have PCR testing again.

The Euro starts on January 13, Croatia will compete in a group with the selections of Serbia and France.

All handball players from North Macedonia tested negative for covid today, local media reported.

The Macedonian national team will play the second control match against Israel tonight in Skopje.

The EHF protocol for participation in the European Championship in Hungary and Slovakia foresees the covid testing of national teams on January 4, 7 and 10, and the Macedonian handball team is scheduled to leave Skopje for Debrecen on January 11.

The Handball Federation of Macedonia (RFM) previously announced, on January 2, that all handball players in the national team were immunized against covid-19, that preventive tests were performed at the beginning of the preparations and that they were negative.

North Macedonia will play its first match at Euro 2022 on January 13 against Slovenia, followed by matches against Montenegro and Denmark.
