In the decisive match for placement in the main stage of the 15th European Championship, Croatia defeated Serbia 23:20 and practically secured the move from Szeged to Budapest.

The match was decided in the 2nd half, in which the "fire" goalkeeper Mate Šunjić was an unsolvable enigma for the "eagles".

Ivan Čupić and Ivan Martinović were the most effective with six goals each, Tin Lučin scored three, and Luka Cindrić showed how much he means to Croatia with three goals and excellent assists.
