The ace from Zoran Roganović's sleeve in the match with Croatia was Stefan Čavor.

Ace Veclara, who has been in phenomenal form lately, as evidenced by the fact that he was in the team of the month in the Bundesliga, played for the first time at the 15th European Championship after being infected with the coronavirus during the first test in Hungary.

He arrived at the right time to facilitate the work of the outstanding Branko Vujović. He was excellent in defense, but also very effective in attack with four goals from five attempts, showing that the "lions" currently have one of the best tandems of right backs in the world.

"Honestly, I didn't expect it to be like that, but I'm really happy. After five days of isolation, everything looked good. I felt good, I wasn't very tired, and the most important thing is that I helped the team, especially in defense," said the 27-year-old from Budva.

He admits that it was difficult to watch the first three matches from the hotel room, without the opportunity to help his teammates.

"Mentally it was difficult. I was careful during the whole preparation and on the first day when we came to Hungary I was positive. It was certainly not easy, but I believed in the boys. I believed before, we will always believe, because together we can do a lot. We proved that at this championship".

Čavor, however, does not want to live in the past.

"We played excellently, especially defensively together with Simić, and showed that we can play with the Croats, even though they were the favorites. But we have three more games ahead of us and we have to forget everything that has happened so far, prepare as best as we know how and play as well as possible".

The next rival is the Netherlands, with whom Montenegro will play tomorrow at 15.30:5 p.m. A victory would bring Zoran Roganović's team closer to extending their stay in Budapest, as they would remain in the competition for the semi-finals or the match for XNUMXth place.

"The Dutch are a big surprise, as are we. They play well, especially offensively. They have an excellent counter, an awkward attack with a lot of low backs and it will be difficult to play with them. The main thing will be the defense, we should continue to play it like before. This is important against such players, who are good individually one-on-one. We have to reduce that to a minimum and score easy goals from good defense".

For years, this generation of "lions" has been talked about as the most talented, but the results have been lacking. Now all the dice have fallen into place.

"I think our five minutes have come, all the dice have come together. Now we are at the zenith of our careers, we put it all together and made a real team. We have shown that now at the European Championship, and I believe we will in the remaining three games in the group," Čavor concluded.
