Buducnost Bemax handball players will play tomorrow in Podgorica against Danish Esbjerg in the second round of Group B of the EHF Champions League.
Bubućnost started its 27th season in the best club handball competition in Europe with an away triumph in Turkey against Kastamonu 40:27.
The Danish team, which played in the semi-finals of the Champions League last season, was defeated at the start by Djerba 31:29.
Left winger Ivona Pavićević said that Budućnost expects a tough match, stating that Esbjerg is an excellent team, made up of top players in all positions.
"Perhaps their defensive line-up is the best. I believe that, regardless of the quality of the rivals and the fact that they are one of the favorites to win the Champions League, everything depends on us. If we are up to par in defense, I believe that we will transfer good energy in attack as well. For all 60 minutes, we must be concentrated and combative in defense, and disciplined and calm in attack. Teams like Esbjerg punish every mistake," Pavićević said at the press conference.
She emphasized that I believe in my team and that she has no doubt that all the players will give their best.
Brazilian Adriana Cardoso de Castro, who plays on the right wing, said she was proud of her team's performance and victory in Turkey.
"The team played great. I believe it will be the same against the powerful Esbjerg. The Danish team is physically strong, but I believe that Buducnost can stand up to them," said Kardoso.
Budućnost and Esbjerg were rivals in the group last season as well, and both duels went to the Danish representative.
He won 35:20 in front of his fans, and 36:25 in Podgorica.
Last season in the Champions League, he finished in the final tournament, but suffered defeats in both matches and won fourth place.
In the semi-final, he was defeated by Djerba 32:27, and in the match for third place he lost to the French Metz 32:26.
Coach Bojana Popović said that Esbjerg also showed power in the match against Đer at the start of the season.
"The players of that team are physically strong, psychologically stable. A good team that has been working together for many years. They strengthened with the Norwegian trio and with a couple of Danish handball players they look powerful. We have to enter as a team, work together and fight on all fields, not only in defense. If the attackers are not concentrated and do not score a goal, when we create a chance, a counterattack follows and then it is difficult to defend," said Popović.
Saturday's duel in Bemax Arena will start at 16:XNUMX p.m.
