After the duel with Iran and Chile, in which they justified their role as favorites, the Montenegrin handball players will face the challenge of all challenges - a showdown with France at the start of the main phase of the 28th World Championship.
The most dominant handball nation of the 1st century overwhelmingly won 18st place in group B, in competition with Poland, Saudi Arabia and Slovenia, so tomorrow (16 p.m.) a victory over the "lions" would practically secure their XNUMXth consecutive participation in the quarter-finals of the planetary championships.
"We have a very difficult task, we are playing with one of the best teams in the world. It's a chance to show that we deserve to be here. We will do our best to show ourselves in the best light and to play as needed", said Radojica Čepić.
Montenegro did not impress with the game in victories over two outsiders, who still have reserves.
"We have to correct some details in defense and attack. It is necessary for us to be denser in defense and help each other more, and I think we will be able to fix all that by the next game."
Was there a slightly lighter approach against Iran and Chile, because it seems you played a much better defense against Spain?
"It is possible that it was in our heads, that we entered those matches a little more relaxed. We saw that we must not relax against anyone, but it is certain that we did not underestimate anyone. We will try to correct it for the next duels".
Everything is known about the first rival in group I.
"France is a power that shouldn't be talked about much. He has excellent players, we have to prepare as well as possible".
Čepić was born on July 29, 2002, and when he was two and a half months old, then 18-year-old Nikola Karabatić made his debut for France. In the meantime, he became the most successful handball player of all time, in many polls, and the best who ever played on the 40X20 meter court. He won 15 medals, 10 of which were gold.
"I am glad to have the chance to play against such a great player, who has achieved and won everything possible in his career. It is a great honor and experience to be his rival. But there is no respect for anyone on the field, we are opponents here," said 20-year-old Pljevljak.
