Anđelić: At halftime we thought we could come back; Ćorsović: I'm happy about my debut, but it wasn't the best

The second match with the giants of world handball, the second defeat of Montenegro.

"Lions" were close to a surprise against Spain at the start of the competition, tonight they didn't ask anything, because France dominated and won 35:24.

"France was the favorite, we had hopes that we could make a surprise, but obviously it didn't work out. They showed why they are perhaps the best team in the world and deservedly won. From the very beginning, they imposed a stronger tempo than ours, due to a greater rotation and selection of players, they kept a high rhythm the whole time. We couldn't follow that," said Božo Anđelić.

Zoran Roganović's first center back admits that at minus three at halftime (16:13) the team thought they could threaten.

"Honestly, we thought it was possible to do something, to maybe tie the game and then try something. It didn't work. We still have something to play for. First, let's rest and gather our strength, then attack Poland and win," Anđelić pointed out.

Miodrag Ćorsović, who arrived last night in place of the injured Nemanja Grbović, made his debut in major competitions and scored a goal for the French.

"The feeling is phenomenal. Until yesterday, I dreamed of matches with those players and watched them on TV, now I was on the field against them. But the defeat we experienced and the high difference of 11 goals leave a bitter taste. It wasn't exactly the best debut for me," the 22-year-old Pljevljak is honest.

Ćorsović felt live what it's like to play against the greats of world handball.

"They have been on the European and world stage for so long, the quality can be seen in players of such caliber. I was very motivated, it was a pleasure to play against such handball players".

On Friday, the "lions" will play against Poland, with a win they would preserve the hope of reaching the qualification tournament for the Olympic Games, and they would remain in the game for the quarterfinals if Slovenia defeats Spain.

"Because of the full stands, there will be even greater motivation, and we will enter every match with great desire and prepare. We will try to get it. We prepared as much as possible for France, we didn't come with a white flag, but we couldn't".

Ćorsović plays with Trimo Trebnje, so yesterday he received a call to replace Grbović, he immediately packed and left.

"I was in the club, that call surprised me. The dream of every handball player is to play for the national team. I managed to come on the same day, I didn't have too much time to rest, but desire and motivation are always crucial", concluded the former Rudar and Lovcen player.
