After six minutes and eight seconds, Montenegro scored the first goal in the match of the 2nd round of group I of the main stage of the World Cup against Poland.
Then the net was shaken by Vuk Lazović, and that torture at the start announced what kind of work awaits the "lions", who lost the third match against the European selections in Krakow (27:20).
"Tough match at the beginning. We ran into the middle, where they are really strong and if you don't move them and 'sway' a bit, it's really complicated to break through them. They stand close to each other, they gather in the middle, it's as if they are spreading their wings", said Lazović.
Montenegro chased the home team for a long time, equalized for the first time in the 27th minute (8:8), but stopped again and allowed goalkeeper Mateus Kornecki to defend himself.
"We started to run, to play our handball. In the 1st half, we tried our best to play, to get going, but again he missed a shot when we needed it. I was hoping that we would 'break through', but a lot of missed shots cost us the result".
The experienced pivot believes that his concentration has weakened due to fatigue.
"I think it took its toll on that rush to catch up with them, to pull a fast center every time, a half-counter... The pulse rose to 200, and then it's normal to make a mistake on a ball".
On Sunday, there is a match with Slovenia, which practically cannot bring anything to Montenegro. And if he wins, he will remain 5th in the group I table, unless he triumphs with a minimum of six points, to overtake Poland, or even nine to be ahead of the "country".
"We will rest, prepare and go to play as well as possible. There's nothing. We got them last time, I don't see why we shouldn't again. I promise nothing, except that we will 'die' like tonight", said Lazović, who at the end had a message:
"It is a great honor for me to be part of this team and I am sure that we will give our best".
