On Saturday, the expected result arrived from France, where Vipers defeated Brest, and Crimea took advantage of the opportunity - Dragan Adžić's team defeated ĆSM Bucharest 28:26 and grabbed the last ticket to the round of XNUMX of the Champions League.
Before the last round of the group stage, Brest had 12 points, and Bittheim and Krim each had 10 points.
As the German team played with Banjik from Most, the only team without a point in the LŠ, it was clear that they would win (in the end it was 47:25), which is why the Slovenian representative needed to defeat the French team.
That happened yesterday (Vipers won 36:29), so Crimea needed a victory over the team that was ranked first in the group A table from the beginning.
In a very exciting duel, in which the teams often took turns in the lead, Adžić's team was more confident in the end and achieved a great victory.
Jovanka Radičević shone, scoring seven goals, including the last one in the match in the 58th minute, which foreshadowed the triumph.
Serbian goalkeeper Jovana Risović was also excellent in the finish, saving three shots in the final two minutes.
In the defeated team, Kristina Neagu scored six times, but from 15 shots. Montenegrin international women also enrolled - Ema Alivodić twice, and Andrea Klikovac once.
In the end, Crimea won 5th place, because it was the best in the round of teams with 12 points - in mutual matches it won six, and Brest and Bitigheim won three each. In that round, the French women had a goal difference of zero, and the Germans minus four, which is why they were eliminated...
Adžić's team will play Rapid from Bucharest in the round of XNUMX, while Brest, whose jersey is worn by Tatjana Brnović, Itana Grbić and Đurđina Jauković (tomorrow she is going for an MRI to see how serious the knee injury is), meet with Denmark's Esbjerg.
If they make it to the quarterfinals, Crimea will meet with Vipers, and Brest with ĆSM Bucharest.
