The "Merkur Spil Arena" football stadium in Dusseldorf, where the opening of the European Championship will be played in front of 50.000 handball fans, will host today's draw for the championship, which takes place from January 10 to 28 next year.
Among the 24 national teams, whose names will be in bullets, will be Montenegro, which fell from 1st to 3rd place in qualifying group 7 with three defeats in March and April, and therefore ended up in the worst, fourth hat.
The "Lions" cannot play only against teams that they have a much higher rating than - Switzerland, Romania, Greece, Georgia and the Faroe Islands, which means that they will have a hell of a difficult task in the fight to repeat the success of January last year in Hungary, when they were 11th in Europe. The teams will be divided into six groups with four selections each, two of which continue the fight in the main stage.
The draw starts at 17.45:XNUMX p.m., and it has already been determined where some selections will play - Germany will be in group A, in Düsseldorf and Berlin, Croatia in B, Mannheim, Iceland in C, in Munich, Norway in D, in Berlin, the defending champion Sweden in E, in Mannheim, and world champion Denmark in F, in Munich.
The main stage will be hosted by Hamburg and Cologne, where the final weekend will also take place. "Lankses Arena" in Cologne has been the organizer of the final four of the Champions League since 2010, so it is not surprising that it was chosen for the fights for medals and the last visas for the Olympic qualification tournaments...
