Round before the end of the main stage of the 26th World Cup, there are five selections in the quarter-finals - Sweden (group 1), Norway, France (group 2), Germany and Denmark (group 3).
The Netherlands is also within a millimeter of the goal, which can only escape the move to Herning in case of a miracle - if they lose to Spain by at least 19 points, and the Czech Republic beats Brazil.
With the entry into the quarterfinals of Norway and France, as the current champions of Europe, i.e. the host of the Olympic Games, it became clear that the ninth-ranked team from the World Cup will play the qualifiers for Paris, and Hungary would be on the threshold of that with a victory over Croatia.
And not only that - she would play in the easiest group, with two non-European selections.
And Dragan Adžić can already celebrate the place in the qualifiers - of the teams that were ahead of his Slovenia at the European Championship, only Montenegro has no visa for the quarterfinals, and therefore also a place in the Olympic qualifiers. Theoretically neither will the Netherlands, but it is clear that they will be among the top eight.
Given that the two best-placed selections from the EHF Euro, which did not make it to the World Cup (Montenegro has already ensured that), will participate in the Olympic qualifications, scheduled for April, it is also clear that Slovenia will fight for going to Paris.
If the "lionesses" enter the quarterfinals, the next on the waiting list from the EHF Euro are the Spaniards, then the Croatians. The Hungarians were behind them and it is clear that they can only reach the Olympic qualifications if they beat the Croatians, which suits Montenegro as well.
