After a 50-day break due to the World Championship, Buducnost Bemax handball players are returning to the big stage. Bojana Popović's team faces a practically impossible mission - in the next six Champions League games, they must make up for the four minus points against Brest or Debrecen, of which they have a worse head-to-head record (they play against the Hungarians in Podgorica, after losing 27:22 away from home), and win 6th place in group B.
It is clear that big victories are needed, that no game can be "thrown away", and the first chance for a break that could bring the "blues" back into the game is on Sunday against ĆSM in Bucharest.
- It will certainly be difficult, Bucharest is one of the main favorites to win the Champions League. It's a big challenge and it will be difficult after a long break, but I see great energy in all the girls. I believe that we can get the most out of this match, we have to think positively - said Bojana Popović.
The head of the coaching staff notes that Adrijan Vasile has two or three quality players in all positions.
- Grace Zadi did not play in Podgorica, but I think she returned after the World Cup, and Kristina Neagu is also ready. Surely they want to show their fans that they can do much better than in the first part of the season, when they had ups and downs. We have to use our chances and try to play a similar match as in Podgorica - said Popović.
In the first duel in the "Bemax Arena", Budućnost held on for a long time, but lost 29:24.
- ĆSM is a great team, which has many big names. It is enough to mention Neaga, Zada and Kobilinska and see how good they are. They have more experience than us, a big war awaits us - said Armel Atingre.
The French goalkeeper is optimistic about the match in Bucharest, as well as the continuation of the Champions League and believes that a place in the round of 16 is possible.
- Some players got into the rhythm they needed, we are also stronger as a team, because we were a new team at the beginning of the season. I think we have a chance. It will be very difficult, but I feel in my heart that we can reach the knockout stage.
