The capital city will do everything to save the Buducnost Women's Handball Club and ensure its functioning, and to survive the most difficult moment in history. This was announced by Luka Rakčević, the deputy mayor of Podgorica, on social networks.
ŽRK Budućnost, after the sudden departure of the general sponsor, the company Bemax, found itself in a difficult situation - hopeless, director Maja Bulatović said a few days ago. The club is without money and without a future, and the only solution is the help of the Capital City.
And the capital is ready to help the great man survive the most difficult moment in his recent history, Rakčević announced, and today he should have a meeting with the mayor Olivera Injac. After him, some things could be clearer.
"I'm sorry that the previous sponsor, in this way and overnight, decided to leave the club and leave huge financial problems, because of which - even with the help of the city - elementary functioning and participation in the Champions League is questionable. Although every sponsor has the right to withdraw their sponsorship, we could have discussed everything months ago and prepared a strategy so that the club would not be collateral damage of such a transition," Rakčević wrote and added:
"However, the situation is as it is and the city will do everything in its power to ensure that ŽRK survives the most difficult moment in its recent history. We owe that to the club, the citizens and all the fans. In the coming days, we will start formal procedures and discussions with the owners of the club, and the public will be informed about the situation, possibilities and plans for the future period. We hope for success", said Rakčević.
Who are the owners of the club, with whom should the capital discuss the future of the most trophy-winning Montenegrin sports team, the two-time champion of Europe? According to the Law on Sports, the founders of the club are, in fact, the owners, and in the case of Budućnost, they are Marijana Maja Bulatović, Tatjana Jeraminok, Dragoslavka Pođanin, Savo Laković and Srđan Markoč. Now it's up to them to find a solution for the survival of the club and only for survival, but not for high goals, because the money that the club would receive from the city budget is not enough even for participation in the Champions League.
It is almost certain that the players who have already been promoted as reinforcements will not stay in Podgorica, the question is what will happen to the younger girls, but also to coach Bojana Popović, who, in this situation, could also accept one of the offers she has from abroad.
