The capital city took over the founding rights over the Budućnost Bemaks Women's Handball Club, it was decided at the Assembly session.
34 councilors were in favor of that decision, with one against and one abstention.
The proponent of that initiative, Luka Rakčević, said that this move saved ŽRK Budućnost.
"We did not allow the club to shut down on its 75th birthday. We will be remembered, because we did a good deed and saved the club," said Rakčević.
By returning the Capital City to the management structure after more than two decades, Buducnost will put out the financial fire caused by the exit of the general sponsor, the company Bemaks.
At one point, the existence of the club was questionable, but the change of ownership solved that.
The club will also participate in the Champions League, although that too was questionable.
In the Budget for 2024, the capital allocated EUR 500.000 for Buducnost, but according to the law, it was not allowed to transfer that money to him, because it can only do this with the clubs of which it is the founder.
