The Champions League season begins: The road to the unknown for the Future

It's time for the start of the season, the moment has come for Budućnosti handball players and the opening of the Champions League.

The rival is Rapid in Bucharest (today from 16:XNUMX), a team for which Montenegrin legend Milena Raičević plays, but whose coaching staff includes former national team player Igor Marković from this summer.

"Blues" do not hide that they can't wait for the prime minister, but they know that they are not in a situation to threaten anyone. Especially since until a little over a month ago, there was a question as to whether the club would continue to function. Although the introduction to the Champions League was the right one, because the women from Podgorica won a strong tournament in Debrecen.

"All that we did in the previous four-five weeks, we need to transfer to the field. The players help each other, we have a good team spirit and I believe that this can lead us to a good result. "Rapid is made for long distances and therefore there is no need to feel pressure, but only to deal with us and our game", says Bojana Popović, coach of Budućnost.

The tournament in Debrecen is a good starting point.

"It's always nice to enter the season with a certain amount of confidence, but the Champions League is something completely different compared to the preparatory tournaments. We are working to ensure that the players' adrenaline is at a level that will not burden them. We want to enjoy ourselves and for the players to gain experience this season", added Bojana.

Apart from Rapid, the rivals in the group will be Đer, Vajpers, Esbjerg, Odense, Ludvigzburg and Brest.

"The most important thing is to respect the agreement from the dressing room. In the preparatory matches, we came back into the game after being in the deficit. And when my team manages not to panic when it is in the minus phase, it will be much easier for us", said the legendary handball player.

Jelena Vukčević also expects a difficult task in Bucharest:

"It will be a good atmosphere and a difficult match. There is no fear - we should not feel pressure and we need to be motivated. With a good feeling from the tournament in Debrecen, we are going to Bucharest to do our best. The expectations for the new season are to gain experience, to grow as players and as a team, and I think that matches like this will mean a lot to us", concluded Jelena Vukčević.
