Montenegro travels to the European Championship with the best assets it currently has - this is known after coach Suzana Lazović announced the list of handball players who will represent our country at the tournament in Austria, Hungary and Switzerland.
On the list of coach Lazović, there are 18 players and on Monday they will start preparations for the eighth participation in the European championships, which is also the championship to which Montenegro is traveling as a bronze medalist from the last championship, which was held in Slovenia and North Macedonia in addition to our country.
The Handball Association of Montenegro announced that compared to the last competitive duel, the April clash against Slovenia in the qualifiers for the Olympic Games in Paris, the new head coach Lazović will have a significantly wider rotation at her disposal.
Marta Batinović and Đurđina Jauković, as well as Milena Raičević, Đurđina Malović, Katarina Džaferović, Ivana Godeč and Jelena Vukčević, are among the "lionesses" again after recovering from injuries, while pivot player Andrijana Tatar will make her debut on the biggest stage.
The pivot of Romanian Baja Mare was singled out by the new coach after the test match with Croatia.
"She deserved to be specially mentioned, because she respected the agreement in both directions. If I didn't expect her to be of quality for the national team, she wouldn't even be here, and I'm glad that she justified it, and showed with her desire and approach that it was more than deserved in the national team," said Lazović at the time.
RSCG added that Montenegro should have many more assets at the EHF Euro 2024, which starts on November 28, compared to the April Olympic qualifications, especially in the defensive positions.
Montenegro with the new coach Lazović has had only one test so far and was defeated away from Croatia in a friendly match played at the end of October.
Ahead of the premier match at the Old Continent Championship in Debrecen against Serbia on November 29, Milena Raičević and her teammates will test their strength against Slovenia.
The rivals in the group stage at EHF Euro 2024 are Romania and the Czech Republic, and the two first-placed selections will win the main round.
