Thursday will be the day for the official opening of the European Championship and mainly a day for the hosts of the champions, and on Friday in Debrecen, the new Euro story of Montenegrin handball players will begin.
The Lionesses are nearing the end of their preparations for the eighth championship of the continent where they will perform, and as can be heard from the ranks of our national team for days, all the girls and coach Suzana Lazović can't wait for everything to start...
"We are ready - I think we had a lot of time to prepare, to analyze everything we need to win points," said Dijana Mugoša, the left wing of Montenegro.
Since the first European Championship in 2010, good performances have been expected from the "lionesses", they also won gold from Belgrade in 2012, and at the new championship jointly organized by Austria, Hungary and Switzerland, they will defend the bronze from the last EHF Euro.
"Of course, expectations are always high when Montenegro plays. We think we can, we have great chances, but we are going step by step, I believe we will pass the group," added Mugoša.
Rivals in the group that will be played in the "Phoenix Arena" in the north-east of Hungary will be Serbia, Romania and the Czech Republic, and for the first points Milena Raičević and her friends will fight against their northern neighbors over whom they won the European Championship with two victories.
How different will the new match be from the qualifiers?
"It's different because it's the European Championship, not the qualifications. It's also different because it's the first match, the opening of the championship, but I think we're ready," Mugoša added.

"Yes, the first match in major competitions is always the most important. That's the most important thing for us, to gain confidence, to go forward with the wind that will carry us", Dijana is clear.
Apart from Jelena Radivojević, who had to cancel her performance due to personal reasons, Montenegro will perform at the new Euro with the strongest team it currently has.
"Certainly it is of great importance. Every player is very important for us, because we have a small base. I think that we are complete now, maybe not completely, but we are stronger than before," concluded the handball player from Craiova, Romania.
The match with Serbia on Friday will be played from 20.30:XNUMX p.m., while the day before the matches between Hungary - Turkey, Spain - Portugal and Austria - Slovakia will open the European Championship.
